korean war memorial. washington, d.c.

the statues are about seven feet tall and represent an ethnic cross section of america.

dedicated in 1995.



i was on a field trip with my class. visiting this memorial wasn't part of the assignment. just had some extra time.




more than 54,000 americans died in the korean war.





an advance party of 14 army soldiers, three marines, one navy, and one airforce.

the polished granite strips represent rice paddies of korea.
